Visit the Blue Penny museum at Le Caudan Waterfront in Port Louis to see two of the rarest, most fascinating and most expensive stamps in the philatelic world.
In September 1847, Mauritius was the first British colony and fifth country in the world to issue postage stamps. The one-penny orange and two-pence blue stamps were then engraved and printed locally by Joseph Osmond Barnard.
And almost a century and a half later, it is our privilege today to showcase the world famous blue penny stamps.
To get to the Museum, easy parking is available at the
Caudan Waterfront, by the way, it's the parking lot which
you will be using during your visit to Port Louis. Tariffs
are reasonable.
